The Nigeria Police Force has pledged to bring to justice those responsible for the killing of two police officers during an unprovoked attack by members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) in Wuse, Abuja. The attack occurred on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at a police checkpoint, resulting in the deaths of two officers and injuries to three others. The attackers, armed with machetes and explosives, also set three police vehicles on fire.
Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, condemned the attack and revealed that 97 suspects have already been arrested. The police are committed to ensuring that the perpetrators face the full wrath of the law. The IGP extended his condolences to the families of the fallen officers and expressed hope for the swift recovery of those injured.
The police have reassured the public of their determination to maintain law and order in the face of extremist threats. The Force also called for public support in their efforts to combat violence and restore peace across the country.
