Pope Francis has strongly criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump’s plans to deport illegal immigrants, describing the move as a “disgrace.” Speaking during an interview with an Italian TV program, the Bishop of Rome expressed disapproval of policies that he believes unfairly target vulnerable individuals.
The Pope emphasized that forcing impoverished immigrants to “foot the bill” for societal issues is neither just nor effective. He stressed that such measures only deepen suffering and fail to address the root causes of global challenges. According to him, “That’s not right. That’s not how you solve problems.”

In a message sent to Trump, Pope Francis extended “cordial greetings” while urging him to foster a society free from hatred, discrimination, and exclusion. He called on leaders to prioritize peace, reconciliation, and solidarity, advocating for policies that uplift rather than marginalize humanity.
