Popular Nigerian singer, Portable, has been granted bail by a court in Kwara State after he was taken to court over allegations of defamation and threats. The police had earlier arrested him in Abeokuta and brought him to Kwara to face charges based on a petition written by another artist, Saheed Osupa.
Portable was accused of using abusive language, threatening someone’s life, and causing public disturbance. The police said the case was serious, as it involved criminal defamation and conduct that could lead to a breakdown of peace in the state.

The court granted him bail on Monday, asking him to pay ₦1 million and bring two sureties: one must be the chairman of PMAN in Kwara and the other must own a house in GRA, Ilorin. His lawyer, Isaac Adebayo, said they are now working hard to meet the bail conditions so Portable can be released soon.
