The Ogun State Police Command has arraigned nine associates of controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, for allegedly assaulting officers of the Ota Zonal Planning Office. The attack reportedly occurred at Portable’s Odogwu Bar while the officials were carrying out their duties. However, the singer himself is said to be on the run.
The suspects, aged between 19 and 28, were charged with felony, assault, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. Prosecutors allege they were armed with cutlasses and guns during the incident. All nine pleaded not guilty, and the magistrate granted them bail at ₦5 million each, requiring sureties registered with the Ogun State government.
The case has been adjourned until March 17 for further hearing. Meanwhile, authorities continue to search for Portable, whose growing list of legal troubles has kept him in the spotlight for the wrong reasons.
