The Presidency has strongly criticized former President Olusegun Obasanjo for his recent remarks on President Bola Tinubu’s policies, calling his statements unconstructive. In an address, Tinubu’s aide, Sunday Dare, described Obasanjo as consistently critical of every administration that followed his, citing a “pattern of undermining successive governments.”
Responding to Obasanjo’s recent remarks at Yale University, the Presidency’s representatives argued that Obasanjo failed to address key issues during his own administration, like infrastructure and power sector improvements, which have left challenges for future leaders. They questioned his moral standing to critique others, emphasizing that Tinubu’s government is actively working on economic reforms and national security advancements.
The statement concluded by advising Obasanjo to support ongoing efforts for Nigeria’s development rather than critique, urging him to reflect on missed opportunities during his tenure.
