Presidency: University Records Back Tinubu

The Presidency has reiterated that the academic records released by Chicago State University (CSU), United States, have vindicated President Bola Tinubu and confirmed his status as an alumnus of the university. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Public Affairs, Temitope Ajayi, emphasized that CSU did not declare the certificate presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by Tinubu as forged in its deposition.

The controversy surrounding Tinubu’s educational qualification has been ongoing, with former Vice President Abubakar Atiku seeking to obtain his academic records. Atiku is expected to file an application at the Supreme Court in furtherance of his election appeal, utilizing the documents obtained from CSU.

CSU recently released Tinubu’s academic records and carried out a deposition of the documents, complying with a court order. In the deposition, CSU affirmed that Tinubu attended the university.

However, the Presidency downplayed the controversy, with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, dismissing it as frivolous. Tuggar asserted that the issue was not a subject of discussion in international engagements involving the President and emphasized the need to focus on development challenges facing the country.

Meanwhile, Atiku is expected to submit new evidence against Tinubu before the Supreme Court. The ongoing legal battle continues to draw public attention, with both sides maintaining their positions in the dispute. Critics argue that the controversy has distracted from pressing national issues.
