Abuja, [Current Date] – President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the appointment of eight new Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) to head various parastatals and agencies under the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation. The appointments take immediate effect and have been announced by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.
The newly appointed CEOs will take charge of crucial institutions, including the National Orientation Agency (NOA), the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), the Voice of Nigeria (VON), the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), and the Nigerian Press Council.
These appointments were made just 24 hours after a closed-door meeting between President Tinubu and the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, at the State House in Abuja.
The appointees and their respective positions are as follows:
- Mr. Lanre Issa-Onilu – Director-General of the NOA.
- Mr. Salihu Dembo – Director-General of NTA (retained in his current position).
- Dr. Muhammed Bulama – Director-General of FRCN (replacing Dr. Mansur Liman).
- Mr. Charles Ebuebu – Director-General of NBC (replacing Balarabe Illelah).
- Mr. Jibrin Ndace – Director-General of VON (replacing Osita Okechukwu).
- Dr. Lekan Fadolapo – Director-General of ARCON.
- Mr. Ali Ali – Director-General of NAN.
- Mr. Dili Ezughah – Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Press Council.
In his statement, President Tinubu called upon the newly appointed leaders to innovate and create new opportunities for Nigerians by reforming these vital government institutions. He emphasized their role in unifying the nation, reshaping mindsets, and showcasing the country to the rest of the world.
Additionally, President Tinubu made further appointments, including:
- Mr. Muhammed Ibrahim, who will serve as the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the National Agricultural Development Fund. His mandate is to remove barriers to efficient access to provisional funding in the agricultural sector.
- Dr. Olasupo Olusi, who has been appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank of Industry for an initial term of four years.
These appointments signify the government’s commitment to ensuring effective leadership in key sectors, with a focus on enhancing Nigeria’s self-sufficiency in food production and overall economic growth.
