Abuja, Nigeria — President Bola Tinubu has pledged that security forces will ensure justice for the five soldiers killed in Aba by suspected members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). In a statement on Saturday, Tinubu condemned the attacks and vowed to take decisive action against the perpetrators.
The President emphasized that the slain soldiers, who were on peacekeeping duty, did not deserve such a mindless attack. He affirmed the government’s capacity to deal with violent non-state actors and ordered security forces to apprehend those responsible for the Aba killings and those enforcing the sit-at-home orders in the southeast.
Tinubu reiterated the government’s stance against IPOB, labeling them a terrorist organization, and condemned the actions as treasonable offenses. He extended his condolences to the families of the slain soldiers and urged security personnel to remain resolute in their duties despite the recent violence.
