In the Mangoro area of Lagos State, a woman identified as Joy suffered injuries when the Lagos State Police Command dispersed protesting commercial drivers on Monday, November 13. Eyewitnesses reported that Joy, who was not part of the protest, was waiting for a bus when police fired teargas, causing her to sustain a deep cut on her face.
According to Chinedu, an eyewitness, efforts were made to rush Joy to a nearby hospital for treatment, and her family has been contacted. The protest by commercial drivers was in opposition to alleged extortion by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority and Task Force, leaving commuters stranded at various bus stops and motor parks.
As of the time of reporting, attempts to obtain a response from the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hudeyin, were unsuccessful.
