Racing Santander Mourns the Loss of Nico Hidalgo

Spanish club Racing Santander has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of their former midfielder, Nico Hidalgo, who succumbed to lung cancer at the age of 32. Hidalgo played for the club between 2018 and 2020, making 73 appearances and leaving a lasting impact with his skill and dedication.

Hidalgo began his career at his hometown club, Motril, before moving to Granada, where he developed his game with their reserve team. In 2014, he signed with Juventus but was loaned back to Spain, playing for Granada and Cádiz. After joining Extremadura in 2020, he was diagnosed with lung cancer the following year, which led to his early retirement. Racing Santander, Granada, and Extremadura have all expressed their condolences, remembering him as both a talented player and a great person.

Meanwhile, Nigerian defender Bright Osayi-Samuel is set to leave Fenerbahce at the end of the season due to stalled contract negotiations. The 27-year-old has declined an extension, seeking a salary increase, but the club is unwilling to meet his demands. With Fenerbahce halting discussions, Osayi-Samuel is expected to depart on a free transfer, attracting interest from Premier League clubs like Fulham and Crystal Palace.
