Martins Esin, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Youth Development, has called upon the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Agency For Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Alhaji Khalil Suleiman Halilu, to prove his worth and fulfill the expectations of Nigerian youths. Esin emphasized that Halilu’s appointment represents a crucial test for the youth in the country.
Esin also commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing more young individuals to key positions, highlighting that this reflects a deliberate national succession plan to prepare the youth for future leadership roles in Nigeria.
President Bola Tinubu recently announced the appointment of Alhaji Khalil Suleiman Halilu as the new CEO of NASENI, replacing the former CEO, Dr. Bashir Gwandu, who was appointed during the previous administration under President Muhammadu Buhari.
Esin, who represents the Oron/Mbo/Okobo/Udung Uko/Urueoffong Oruko Federal Constituency, issued this statement in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, expressing his appreciation for President Tinubu’s commitment to youth inclusion in government.
He noted that the quality of youth being appointed into key roles by the President indicates a strategic national succession plan, ensuring a smooth transition of leadership in the country. Esin stressed that these appointments are based on merit rather than the traditional practice of political patronage.
Esin encouraged Nigerian youth to take inspiration from their peers who have been appointed to national positions and strive for excellence in leadership and service delivery. He believes that there are ample opportunities for young people to make significant contributions to their communities, local governments, states, and federal agencies. He also expressed high expectations for Alhaji Khalil Suleiman Halilu, given his international reputation as a tech expert and serial innovator, and urged him to excel in his new role.
