In the wake of a violent clash between transport union tax collectors, commonly known as “agbero,” and commercial motorcyclists in the Alagbole and Akute areas of Ogun State, an agreement has been reached to revert to the old ticket price of N1000. The decision comes following a stakeholder meeting and engagement convened to address the aftermath of Wednesday’s violence.
The clash, which resulted in stranded passengers, damaged properties, and five confirmed injuries, was triggered by a recent increase in the ticket price. Recognizing the adverse impact on both commuters and motorcyclists, the union reconsidered its stance and opted to return to the previous fare.
The violence prompted intervention from local authorities, and the police have confirmed the resolution, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and fostering dialogue to prevent similar incidents in the future. The disruption caused by the clash had significant repercussions on normal activities in the affected areas, underscoring the need for a peaceful and sustainable resolution.
