Rev. Yakubu Pam, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, has called upon the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) to embrace the principles of sportsmanship and acknowledge the tribunal’s decision in order to advance the country.
The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal recently upheld the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the February 25 presidential election. The tribunal, chaired by Justice Haruna Tsammani, ruled that the petitions filed by PDP’s Atiku Abubakar and LP’s Peter Obi, as well as their respective parties, lacked merit.
In a press statement, Rev. Yakubu Pam expressed that the tribunal’s judgment was a triumph for all Nigerians. He congratulated Atiku and Obi for pursuing legal redress and urged them to accept the verdict.
Pam emphasized that while the victory belonged to President Tinubu, it was also a victory for democracy and all Nigerians. He commended those who chose to seek resolution through the court system, noting that their actions demonstrated courage and commitment to the rule of law.
He further urged all parties involved to exhibit sportsmanship and accept the tribunal’s decision as a means to move the country forward. Pam acknowledged that not everyone might agree with the verdict but emphasized the importance of working towards national unity.
In conclusion, he praised the judiciary for upholding the rule of law and encouraged all Nigerians to continue striving for the country’s unity.
