Rivers: Five people killed by fleeing loyalist of cult king

On Sunday morning, five individuals were killed by suspected cultists who were loyal to David Gift, the wanted kingpin, in the Odiemerenyi community of Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State.

According to reports, the attackers are part of the notorious Iceland cult, which is led by David Gift, also known as 2 Baba. This group is thought to be accountable for the September murder of Divisional Police Officer SP Bako Angbashin in the Odumude community of Ahoada East LGA.

Regarding the most recent murder, a local resident informed our reporter that two of his brothers and another individual inside his compound were slain by suspected cultists when they broke into the community on Sunday morning at around one in the morning.

The source, who begged to remain anonymous, explained that the community had seen five fatalities in all.

He went on to say that the miscreants had vowed to keep killing and that the Nigeria Police had to free their sponsors and supporters in order for them to cease their heinous deed.

The source claimed that before the daredevil cultists would stop shooting, they would also demand the release of some police-detained chiefs.

The locals, who were living in fear, urged the Rivers State Government and the security services to take further action to apprehend the wanted cultists.
He said, “On Sunday at 1:02 a.m., we were all in the room when we heard footsteps and the dogs began to back up.

“It was one of my younger brothers who yelled, ‘Who are those people?'” In response, they said they had come to murder everyone.

“That they will carry on the killing because of the individuals in police custody, including the chiefs and supporters who are with them.”

“So, they shot my younger brother and then passed two doors in my house and shot my two other brothers while he was trying to beg with them.”

“They went to another compound, shot someone else, and then they went into the village and shot a member of my family,” he continued. Thus, five people lost their lives. That is what took place.

“We have had enough of sobbing over this situation. It appears that the government is at a loss for what to do. We are in pain, so let the government work harder, assist us, and free us from these people.

He revealed that Obobula, also known as Bestman, was one of the individuals they killed, and Chibogu was another.

SP Grace Iringe-Koko, a spokesman for the state Police Command, assured us that she would speak with the Divisional Police Officer and provide our correspondent with an update.

Superintendent of Police Iringe-Koko had not yet done so when this report was submitted on Sunday night.
