The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticized Daniel Bwala, the spokesperson for the presidential candidate of the PDP in the last general elections, Atiku Abubakar, for spreading what they consider misinformation about the PDP and its history. Bwala had insinuated that the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, was working in the National Union of Road Transport Workers motor park when the PDP was founded, suggesting that Wike was not one of the party’s founding members.
In response, the Legal Adviser of the PDP in Rivers State, Chief Kingsley Chuku, refuted Bwala’s claims, stating that Nyesom Wike had been practicing law in Port Harcourt before entering politics. Chuku emphasized the need for factual accuracy and due diligence before making such statements, especially for someone with a legal background like Bwala.
Chuku affirmed that Nyesom Wike is held in high regard by the PDP in Rivers State.
