Robbers break into four churches in Ogun, take musical instruments

Kunle Soyoye, the lead pastor of Glory Place Christian Centre, informed our reporter that an unauthorized caller who reached him and his wife at the number listed on the church banner at around two in the morning on Thursday gave them the information.

I was asleep when a phone came in at two in the morning, but I didn’t answer it because it was an odd hour and I didn’t even recognize the caller. Two additional calls were made, and when I didn’t answer, the caller called my wife, who then came to tell me that I had a caller who wanted to speak with me.

“When I answered the phone, the caller informed me that our church had been searched and that he had located us by the church’s banner. When I arrived at the church, I discovered that they had taken the laptop, keyboards, and other musical instruments.
Soyoye claimed that when he went to the Adigbe Police Station to report the incident and met representatives of the other churches who came to report similar incidents, he learned that other churches were also impacted.
I called the Adigbe police station after arriving at the church, and they came and looked over everything before asking me to follow them so they could file a formal report.

I ran into a brother from Kingsworld who had come to report a similar problem on the way to the police station. In a short period of time, another TREM employee arrived to report the same problem. That is how we learned that the thieves broke into four churches.

“When we got to Kingsworld to see what had happened, what had been stolen was even more than what they had stolen in my church,” he continued.

A TREM member who did not want his name published claimed it was astonishing that the burglars were able to carry out the raid without being discovered despite the presence of security officers in the neighborhood.

When I heard about the incident, I was surprised that the robbers were able to get away unnoticed despite the presence of watchmen, he remarked.

Omolola Odutola, the state police public relations officer, confirmed the occurrence when reached.
She said that while the investigation to apprehend the offenders was underway, some of the things had been found in the bush where the suspects stashed them.

“Yes, it did occur. After receiving the report, Divisional Police Officer Adigbe worked hard to recover some of the stolen goods that the robbers had hidden in a bush before being freed on bond and delivered to Kingsword Church.

While efforts are still being made through intelligence gathering to apprehend the sacrilege’s culprits, she stated.
