Portugal captain and Al-Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo has fired back at critics who called for his retirement following his lackluster performance at Euro 2024. Despite failing to score during the tournament and Portugal’s exit in the knockout stage, the 39-year-old football legend dismissed the negative feedback, insisting it won’t affect his career.
In an interview on the Rio Ferdinand Presents YouTube channel, Ronaldo addressed the criticism, saying, “I’m not going to finish my career because two rats criticize me. The world loves me, the fans love me. This is my motivation.” He emphasized that no one can diminish his accomplishments, despite comments from pundits.
Since Euro 2024, Ronaldo has bounced back by scoring in two consecutive UEFA Nations League games, taking his career tally to 901 goals. Looking ahead, the former Real Madrid star said he still has more to offer in football for another “two or three more years” before considering retirement.
