In order to eradicate food insecurity in the nation, President Bola Tinubu has been advised by Senior Advocate of Nigeria Albert Akpomudje to address the twin issues of electricity supply and insecurity.
In a Wednesday interview in Ughelli, Delta State, with the media, Akpomudje made the call.
He denounced the unlawful annexation of agricultural land across the majority of the nation, claiming that this had made farming challenging and consequently reduced food production in the country.
Nonetheless, he expressed optimism that Nigeria will realize its full potential with a better electrical supply.
“I want to tell President Tinubu that tackling insecurity and power head-on is one shortcut to tackle food insecurity and the rising cost of living in the country,” stated Akpomudje. This has a compounding effect that will resolve the problems that seem to be causing us hardship in the modern world.
“People are finding it difficult to go to the farm because herdsmen have taken over a large portion of our farmlands.”Our production capacity has dropped to an intolerable level, businesses have left the nation, and those working in the manufacturing and production sectors are unable to continue producing.
“Our problems will naturally go away if the President can address the illegal occupation of our lands by killer herdsmen and enhance our power generation. People will be able to return to farms without fear, and businesses will be able to increase manufacturing and production.” It is well known that insecurity persists to this day.
“Herdsmen are still occupying the Uwheru axis in Delta, making it impossible for our people to go farming.”
