Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is set to present the ambitious 2025 appropriation bill to the Lagos State House of Assembly on November 21, with projections indicating it will exceed ₦2.3 trillion. Dubbed the “Budget of Sustainability,” the bill focuses on five pillars, including infrastructure, economic diversification, and institutional reforms, aiming to foster resilience and prosperity for Lagosians.
The budget builds on the 2024 ₦2.267 trillion “Budget of Renewal,” with a strong emphasis on infrastructure, environment, and technology, alongside significant allocations for security. Of the 2024 budget, 58% was dedicated to capital projects, reflecting the state’s priority on sustainable development and quality of life improvements.
In addition to presenting the new budget, Sanwo-Olu plans to establish a $100 million Film Village, enhancing Lagos’s position as a creative industry hub. He pledged transparency and accountability in budget execution, calling for citizen participation to ensure the shared vision of a “Greater Lagos.”
