The Supreme Court has issued a ruling upholding the election victory of Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule.

The decision comes after the state election petition tribunal initially nullified the governor’s election, declaring David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the March 18, 2023, election.
However, the appeal court later reinstated Governor Sule, asserting that the tribunal had erroneously relied on the evidence of eight PDP witnesses, whose statements on oath were not presented alongside the petition.

Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, in delivering the lead judgment, declared that the appeal lacked merit. With this ruling, Governor Abdullahi Sule’s electoral victory has been definitively affirmed by the highest court in the land, putting an end to the legal challenges surrounding the Nasarawa State election.
