Following a disruptive session during the ministerial nominee screening of Festus Keyamo, Senate President Godswill Akpabio is engaged in a meeting with President Bola Tinubu. This development arose after Senator Darlington Nwokocha raised concerns about Keyamo’s screening, prompting a closed-door Senate discussion.
The commotion unfolded when Darlington, representing Abia Central Senatorial District, moved to suspend Keyamo’s screening, accusing him of disrespecting the 9th National Assembly by alleging corruption in the previous Assembly. This move was seconded by Enyinnaya Abaribe, sparking a division among the lawmakers and intense arguments.
In the midst of the chaos, Senate Majority Leader Opeyemi Bamidele advocated for a private session, an action supported by the Senate President. The nominee in question, Festus Keyamo, represents President Tinubu’s 48th and final candidate submission for confirmation.
