Senate President Pledges Better Conditions for Nigerian Workers on May Day

In a resounding declaration of solidarity with Nigerian workers, Senate President Godswill Akpabio has vowed to champion their cause for improved wages and working conditions, forging a collaborative path between the National Assembly and the executive arm of government.

In a statement released on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio left no room for doubt, affirming, “No Nigerian worker will again be allowed to work under inhuman conditions. We will do everything to give you the best because you deserve the best.”

As the nation marked the 2024 May Day, Akpabio’s message of solidarity resonated deeply, extolling the virtues of Nigerian workers—patriotism, hard work, resilience, and unwavering dedication to duty.

Reflecting on this year’s theme, “Ensuring safety and health at work in a changing climate,” Akpabio reaffirmed the National Assembly’s unwavering commitment to prioritizing the welfare and safety of workers. He emphasized that the theme aligns perfectly with international best practices, signaling Nigeria’s determination to keep pace with global standards.

With more than 25 years of association with Nigerian workers, Akpabio’s pledge carries weight, echoing the sentiments of millions across the nation. His assurance that the National Assembly stands ready to ensure the best working conditions is a beacon of hope for workers nationwide.

As the nation looks ahead, Akpabio’s words serve as a rallying cry, uniting workers in their quest for dignity, fairness, and a brighter future. With his promise to champion their cause, Nigerian workers can rest assured that their voices will be heard and their rights fiercely defended.
