Seven criminal suspects who allegedly specialized in stealing laptops, handbags, and cell phones within the well-known Holy Ghost area have been apprehended by Enugu state police command operators.
DSP Daniel Ndukwu, the command’s spokesman, told reporters about the arrest on Wednesday in Enugu.
Ndukwu claims that the suspects were taken into custody by Central Police Station (CPS) Police Operatives of the Command during the evening hours of Friday, October 27, 2023, after they stormed the Holy Ghost railway axis, Christ Chemist, Old Park, and the surrounding areas.
The renowned criminal suspects were identified by him as “Okonkwo Sunday (also known as “Oga Sunny”), 35; Nwankwoala Tochukwu (also known as “TC Boy”), 25; Ogbu Mmaduabuchi, 18; Miracle Chukwu, 20; Nwali Chinedu, 23; Ananchonam Chinecherem (also known as “Razor”), 18; and Nwamini Junior (also known as “Small”), 20, all of unknown address.”
He claimed that the male suspects were experts at attacking and robbing gullible and defenseless people of their possessions.
Nine (9) female handbags, two (2) wallets, two (2) wheel spanners, one (1) iron saw, one (1) functional Dell laptop, one (1) Zenith Bank ATM card with the name “Joy Akiji,” one (1) NIN registration slip, and other incriminating items that were taken from the gullible victims are among the recovered exhibits.
Ndukwe stated that the suspects had all admitted to the crime, been charged, and been placed under detention at the Correctional Custodial Center located in the state capital of Enugu.
The state police commissioner, he said, had applauded the officers and given them instructions to keep up the pace while urging the public to continue supporting the police in their attempts to apprehend lawbreakers who had not yet expressed regret for their actions.
