Seyi Awolowo, a former contestant of Big Brother Naija, recently shared his unique perspective on his time in the house, likening it to a form of unconventional confinement with challenging conditions.
During an interview with media personality Toke Makinwa, Seyi delved into a controversial moment from his stint in the Big Brother house. He addressed a statement he made about allowing his sons to be involved with multiple partners, explaining that he was unaware of making such remarks at the time.
Seyi clarified, “I did not know when I said it, I was in a rant. Being in the Big Brother house, it’s a different kind of prison, you know when you agree to extreme conditions, you tend to underestimate the term ‘extreme conditions’ and I think I was at my breaking point at that time.”
Toke Makinwa continued to inquire about why Seyi decided to participate in the show a second time, considering his perception of the extreme conditions. Seyi then revealed his motivation behind the decision, focusing on self-promotion and fundraising for future projects.
“Life is a double-edged sword, if you don’t take the risk how would you know you go and then in these times you always you always go for an opportunity to make yourself one sellable top-of-mind awareness more marketable. At the time I didn’t have any projects I was working on and I was open to marketing myself a whole lot better so that I could be able to raise funds for my own works that I wanna do. I’m tryna market myself,” he elaborated.
Seyi Awolowo initially gained fame during his first appearance on Big Brother Naija in 2019, where he garnered widespread admiration. However, during his All Stars season, he faced significant backlash due to his derogatory statement, which caused a shift in public opinion.
