Edo State Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, has humbly requested forgiveness from Governor Godwin Obaseki for any unintentional mistakes he may have made while carrying out his duties. This heartfelt plea was made during an address to selected media outlets, excluding Findwhosabi, on Friday. Shaibu emphasized that this request for forgiveness is essential to ensure the successful completion of the present administration’s goals in the state.
The deputy governor made this appeal following his appointment as the Grand Patron of the Catholic Men Organisation of Nigeria for the Catholic Archdioceses of Benin.
Shaibu stated, “I have always said that I am a loyal servant, and nothing has changed. I took a vow to support my governor, and as you can see, the Catholic people are here. Everything about me is that if I have a vow with God, there is nothing that can change it. I can only wish that the relationship that we had before, I prayed and know that in the next few weeks, it will come back.”
“I am missing my governor, and I prayed that God will touch my governor’s heart and the hearts of all those who have tried to come between us. They will know that I mean well. If there is any mistake I have made as a human, it is just human and not an act of wickedness because I am not wicked, and I have a clean heart.”
Shaibu continued, “I use this opportunity to appeal to Mr. Governor that if there is any mistake I have made or anything that I have done unknowingly, he should please forgive me so that we can work together to develop our state.”
He stressed that the administration had only one year left, and they had been the envy of the entire country due to the seemingly impossible reconciliation of their relationship. He expressed his desire for them to work together to finish their tenure strongly.
Shaibu noted that he had complied with the governor’s directive to move to his new office and was willing to carry out any responsibilities assigned to him. He conveyed his gratitude to the Catholic Men Organisation for the honor, emphasizing that his life is centered on faith and service to God.
Barr. Austin Odigie, the CMO President of the Archdiocese of Benin, highlighted Shaibu’s commitment to church activities as the reason behind his appointment as Grand Patron. He praised Shaibu for actively participating in church events, including serving mass during Father’s Day celebrations, making him the only deputy governor to do so. Archbishop Augustine Akubeze is set to officially invest Shaibu on September 24 during the first mass.
