In a recent interview, Vice President Kashim Shettima expressed his belief that Kizz Daniel and Tekno’s 2023 hit song, ‘Buga,’ has the potential to become Nigeria’s second national anthem. Shettima, who gained attention for his viral ‘Buga‘ dance video last year, shared that his participation in the dance challenge aimed to showcase Nigeria’s rich arts and culture to a global audience.

The Vice President emphasized the government’s commitment to nurturing and promoting arts and culture as part of the broader vision known as “Nigeria Destination 2030.” Shettima acknowledged the significant impact of Nigerian arts and culture on the global stage and stressed the importance of reintroducing Nigeria to the international community.
“We cannot run away from the fact that Nigerian arts and culture are creating waves in the global scene. And Nigeria has been out of the global scene for quite some time. This is an avenue for us to reintroduce Nigeria,” remarked Shettima during the interview. He went on to highlight the ‘Buga’ dance, inspired by the hit song, as a cultural phenomenon that is gaining recognition and popularity, even suggesting that it is approaching the status of a second national anthem.

As Nigeria seeks to position itself as a cultural powerhouse on the world stage, Vice President Shettima sees the ‘Buga’ dance and its associated song as an effective means to showcase the country’s vibrancy, diversity, and artistic prowess.
