Former House of Representatives member, Shina Abiola Peller, has urged opposition parties to unite and challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Speaking after the 7th Annual Shina Peller Ramadan Lecture/Iftar in Ibadan, he lamented the growing hunger and hardship in the country, emphasizing that Nigerians are struggling to survive.
Peller expressed concerns over the state of the nation, saying the country is deteriorating daily. He warned that freedom of speech is under threat, as critics of the government face persecution. He pointed out that many Nigerians are afraid to speak up, while others remain silent due to personal interests.
Calling for urgent action, Peller stressed that leaders must set aside personal ambitions and work together to build a strong opposition. He argued that democracy cannot thrive without a functional opposition to hold the government accountable, adding that Nigeria must not become a one-party state.
