Gbenga Elegbede and Funmilayo Elegbede were both given an 18-month term by a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State, for stealing toothpaste and other articles from Adeleke Omolayo and Alhaji Wahab.
Gbenga was given a year in prison and forced labor on Wednesday by Magistrate E. O. Idowu, while Funmilayo received a six-month sentence and forced labor.
Following their guilty pleas to eight counts each of conspiracy, theft, breaking and entering, and aiding and abetting, the siblings’ verdict was announced.
Laide Rawlings, the prosecution, had informed the court that the siblings had broken into Omolayo Adeleke’s store and taken articles worth N291,150, including 16 slippers, 6 markers, 3 tubes of toothpaste, 1 mat, and 3 gas cylinders, among other things.
She added that the siblings broke into one Alhaji Wahab’s apartment and took a wallet worth N1,500 that contained N450,000.
