The Sierra Leonean Police Force have detained a man named Benjamin Nnanyereugo for allegedly killing his girlfriend, according to Benjamin Hundeyin, the public relations officer for the Lagos State Police.
When speaking with our journalist, Hundeyin revealed that the Nigeria Police had confirmed Nnanyereugo’s arrest.
“The Sierra Leonean Police Force detained him, and we are working to extradite him to Nigeria.
The Lagos State Police Command issued a wanted poster for Benjamin Nnanyereugo on October 11 in connection with the murder of his girlfriend, Augusta Osedion.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the police’s spokesperson, said in a statement on Tuesday that Nnanyereugo was suspected of killing the 21-year-old woman on July 13, 2023, in his home at Oral Estate in the state’s Ajah region.
“Following the exhaustion of all available options to bring him in, he is declared wanted,” the statement said in part.
The suspect is an Abia State native who is 26 years old and stands about 5’9″ tall. He has a dark complexion and is proficient in Igbo, pidgin English, and English.
