Nigerian singer Simi has shared the intriguing story of how she met her husband, Adekunle Gold, on Facebook, admitting that she initially didn’t know he was a singer. The revelations came during a live session on the ‘Tea With Tay’ podcast, which She later posted on her Instagram page.
Simi disclosed that Adekunle Gold reached out to her on Facebook, but at the time, she thought he was just a fan. She didn’t reply to his message, assuming he was merely one of her followers. She humorously recalled that Adekunle Gold used to engage in “King of Photoshop” activities at the time.

“I didn’t know my husband was singing when I met him because I already said I cannot marry a singer. I thought he was even a fan. He used to do this ‘King of Photoshop’ that time. He sent me a message on Facebook, but I never saw it nor did I reply,” she shared.
She also discussed her decision not to marry a singer, revealing that she had set that preference for herself. Despite her initial misconception about Adekunle Gold’s profession, the two eventually connected, and their relationship blossomed.

The singer expressed her belief in women’s right to choose their paths without societal pressure. Simi emphasized that whether a woman decides to be extremely submissive or embrace a more modern lifestyle, it should be her choice without feeling obligated or fearful.
As a final note, Simi hinted at an upcoming album, sparking excitement among her fans who are eager to hear more of her music.
