Singer Portable Arrested Over Unpaid Car Debt

In a dramatic turn of events, the Lagos State Police Command has arrested popular Nigerian singer, Portable. The arrest comes after the singer failed to settle the outstanding balance on a G-Wagon he purchased from a local car dealer.

Portable, known for his hit “Zazu,” bought the luxury vehicle for N27 million but only paid N13 million upfront. Despite repeated attempts by the dealer to collect the remaining N14 million, Portable allegedly refused to pay, citing issues with the vehicle.

Frustrated by the ongoing dispute, the car dealer reported the matter to the police. According to Punch, each time the dealer contacted Portable, he claimed the vehicle was faulty. This led the police to intervene, resulting in Portable’s arrest.

Confirming the incident, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated, “Yes, Portable has been arrested. He bought a G-Wagon for N27 million, paid N13 million, and refused to pay the rest, claiming the vehicle was bad. We arrested him today.”

This arrest comes on the heels of another controversy involving Portable. The singer recently alleged that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was planning to arrest him upon his return to Nigeria. During a live Instagram session with fans, Portable voiced his fears of detention, following a call to action by a social media activist known as VeryDarkMan, who urged the EFCC to investigate Portable’s handling of the national currency.

The singer’s public plea for forgiveness from the EFCC adds another layer to his mounting legal troubles, as he navigates this latest setback in his career.
