Popular actor and singer, Idowu Adeyemi, better known as Yhemolee, has expressed his dismay over the recent fuel price hike and the worsening economic conditions in Nigeria. The pump price of fuel recently surged to N612 per litre.
Yhemolee shared his thoughts in a video message posted on his Instagram page on Friday, emphasizing that the economic crisis is affecting everyone, including the wealthy. He pointed out that foreign currencies, such as the British Pounds and the United States Dollars, have significantly appreciated against the Nigerian Naira in the exchange market.
The actor also highlighted the impact of the fuel price hike on daily life, stating that many Nigerians are finding it challenging to commute to their workplaces and businesses. He narrated his own experience of spending 15 minutes traveling from Oniru, Victoria Island, to Lekki Camp, which usually takes longer on a working day due to traffic congestion.
Yhemolee further shared the financial burden of the fuel price increase, revealing that it costs him N52,000 to fill his Range Rover and N32,000 for his Chevrolet. He fills both vehicles twice a week, resulting in a staggering total of N160,000 per week for petrol expenses. This amounts to N640,000 in a month, a significant strain on his finances.
