The Divisional Police Officer of Ahoada, Bako Angbashim, was kidnapped and killed in the state’s Odumude community, Ahoada West Local Government Area, according to the Rivers State Police Command, which has confirmed the arrest of a member of the notorious cult group.

This was revealed in a statement that the command’s spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, delivered to newsmen in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.

According to Iringe-Koko, the culprit was about to be lynched by a crowd in the Edoaha community of the Ahoada East LGA when the arrest was made.

She claimed that assailants had already placed a tire around the suspect’s neck in an attempt to set him ablaze when agents sped to the site. However, the suspect was saved, taken to a police station, and then transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence unit of the command.
The state police spokesperson added that the suspect was already providing crucial information that will enable the capture of the eluding members, particularly the gang’s leader, David Okpara.

The statement continues, “On Monday, September 25, 2023 at around 19:43hrs, acting on actionable intelligence obtained that in Edoaha community in Ahoada East, one of the suspects who brutally assassinated SP Bako Angbashim was about to be lynched by an irate mob.
