The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State has affirmed Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s unwavering commitment to ending banditry and addressing security challenges in the state. Isa Sadiq Acida, the party’s state chairman, made this statement while addressing reporters at the party secretariat in Sokoto.
Congratulating Governor Aliyu on his 54th birthday, Acida commended the governor’s performance within seven months of his administration, particularly in the area of security. He highlighted the governor’s collaboration with security agencies at both state and federal levels, emphasizing the provision of support and the deployment of the right vehicles for security operations.
Acida noted, “The collaboration has begun to bear fruit as the bandits are now being pursued in their hideouts and attacked, while several of their innocent victims are constantly being freed.” He also acknowledged the governor’s initiative in enacting a law to establish a community guard corps, providing them with the necessary resources to combat banditry.

The chairman further commended Governor Aliyu for various social activities, including the construction of a 500-unit housing estate in the Wakaje village area of Wamakko Local Government.
While calling on opposition parties in the state to join hands with the administration, Acida mentioned the governor’s commitment to completing all ongoing projects inherited from the previous administration.

Sokoto State has faced increased bandit attacks in recent months, prompting the government to intensify efforts to address the security challenges. In December alone, the state witnessed multiple bandit attacks leading to casualties. The APC’s reassurance comes as part of ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity in the region.
