On Wednesday, three bandits in the region were apprehended by troops from the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, who had been sent in to put an end to the unrest in the Mangu Local Government region of Plateau.
Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the director of Army Public Relations, said this in a statement issued in Abuja.
When the military bravely fought through an ambush set up by the bandits while responding to a distress call in the general region of Mangu, according to Mr. Nwachukwu, they completely destroyed the criminals.
After escaping the ambush, he said that the forces found three AK-47 rifles, 14 rounds of 7.62 mm Special ammunition, one motorcycle, and a Constabulary Police Identity card.
He said that troops are presently pursuing bandits who fled the firefight with bullet wounds.
