Son hacks off mother’s hands with machete in Ogun

Ayobami Oyeleye, 30, is being held by the Ogun State Police Command after using a machete to sever his mother’s hands.

The woman’s head was claimed to have received a serious cut from the suspect.

According to reports, Oyeleye beat his 65-year-old mother Esther on Tuesday in the state’s Akibo village’s Obafemi Owode Local Government Area following an unspecified quarrel.

On Wednesday, reporters learned that a disturbance coming from the elderly woman’s home throughout the night compelled her neighbors to rush outside to investigate.

When they arrived at the residence, they saw Esther lying in a pool of blood with a stab wound to the back of her skull and her left and right hands severed.

Oyeleye was claimed to have been seen by the neighbors wielding a sharp cutlass while standing next to his mother.
Oyeleye also used the cutlass to inflict damage on the elderly woman’s head and legs, according to an eyewitness who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the seriousness of the incident.

According to the source, the sufferer was brought right away to the hospital for treatment.

“Holding a razor-sharp cutlass, he cut off his mother’s two hands and further injured her head and legs. According to the source, we have transported the mother to the hospital for treatment.

Omolola Odutola, the state police public relations officer, who verified the incident to our correspondent in a statement to media on Wednesday, said the suspect had been detained and an investigation was proceeding.

“The suspect is currently in our care. Our troops went to the location where the cutlass that was used to commit the crime was found. An investigation is still being conducted, the police spokesperson told reporters.
