Sophie Turner Files Lawsuit Against Joe Jonas Over Child Custody

Sophie Turner has taken legal action against her estranged husband, Joe Jonas, alleging that he has wrongfully retained their children’s passports. In a federal court filing on September 20, 2023, the Game of Thrones actress invoked the Hague Convention, an international treaty addressing cross-border child abduction, seeking the immediate return of their children, Willa and J.D.

Turner explained that she and Jonas had previously agreed to make England their permanent residence for raising their daughters. This decision led them to sell their Miami home in December 2022. She emphasized in the legal documents that, before the divorce proceedings began, Jonas had temporary custody of their children due to his longer availability to spend time with them, especially considering her demanding shooting schedule in the UK.

Furthermore, Turner disclosed that she learned of Jonas’ divorce filing through social media, just days after he had initiated it. Following this revelation, she attempted to discuss bringing the children back to England with her estranged husband. During this discussion, he allegedly refused to return their passports or allow the children to accompany her to England.

Joe Jonas filed for divorce from Sophie Turner on September 1, 2023, a move that surprised many fans given their public displays of affection in the weeks leading up to the divorce. Turner asserted that their marriage abruptly deteriorated following an altercation on August 15.

The couple, who met in 2016, got engaged in 2017 and held two wedding ceremonies, one in Las Vegas and the other in Paris, appear to be facing significant challenges in their once “picture-perfect” marriage.
