Omoyele Sowore, former AAC presidential candidate, has criticized the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, calling it a calculated move to seize control of the oil-rich region. In an interview, he accused President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike of orchestrating the crisis to consolidate power.
Sowore alleged that Wike influenced Tinubu to override Governor Siminalayi Fubara, claiming the entire process was part of a larger scheme. He described the three leaders as dangerous figures who had risen through impunity without consequences. According to him, the National Assembly’s approval of the emergency only confirms a broader political manipulation.
He urged Nigerians to recognize the situation as a power struggle rather than a genuine effort to restore order. Sowore called for collective resistance, arguing that the country’s leadership was working against the people’s interests.
