Omoyele Sowore, the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has raised serious questions about former First Lady Patience Jonathan, following reports that 15 of her domestic workers have been locked up since 2019 over missing jewelry worth ₦750 million.
According to reports, the workers have been in Okaka Correctional Centre, Bayelsa State, for over six years without any court ruling. Their trial has been delayed many times, allegedly under the influence of the former First Lady, while no clear proof has been shown that they stole anything.

Speaking on the matter, Sowore asked where Patience Jonathan got the money to buy such expensive jewelry in the first place. He said it’s shocking that someone accused of looting public funds is now keeping others in prison for allegedly stealing part of the same money. He called for the immediate release of the workers and said Patience Jonathan should be the one facing justice.
