Nigerian singer Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, popularly known as Spyro, has addressed the mistaken belief that he is a newcomer in the music industry. Contrary to this perception, he asserts that he has been active in the industry for a longer period than many other Nigerian artists.
Taking to his Instagram page on Tuesday, the ‘Who’s Your Guy’ crooner shared a post debunking the misconception. He stated that he had been in the music scene before most of the audience’s favorite artists, expressing amusement at the assumption that he is a new talent.
Spyro backed up his claim by sharing a clip and art cover of his throwback songs. He revealed that he initially pursued a career as a rapper and had aspirations to fill the void left by the late Dagrin. However, he eventually transitioned from rapping to singing.
The singer recounted collaborating with Tiwa Savage as far back as 2010 when he was still known as “Freeze” in the rap scene. Additionally, he highlighted a collaboration he had with the late Sound Sultan in 2014.
Spyro emphasized his dedication to his craft, stating that he had been grinding tirelessly until his breakthrough this year, when he received recognition and success in his music career.
