The Order of the Knights of St. John International (KSJI) has issued a stern warning to the Nigerian government, urging swift and effective measures to address the current economic crisis. The organization expressed deep concern over the potential disastrous consequences of prolonged economic hardship, emphasizing the need for accurate socioeconomic programs and policies to be implemented in the early part of the upcoming year.
Maj. Gen. (Professor) Remy Uche, the Supreme Subordinate (National) President of Nigeria (SSP) for KSJI, conveyed this message during a Christmas address to the nation. He highlighted the severe economic challenges faced by Nigerians, including a high currency exchange rate, inflation, and a significant increase in refined petroleum product pump prices.
Professor Uche recommended that the government undertake serious economic planning to swiftly improve the situation and propel the nation forward. He pointed out that the suffering intensified with the introduction of a new pricing system for refined petroleum products months ago and has not abated since.

Expressing concern for the citizens struggling to meet basic needs, Uche warned of potential consequences on national peace and tranquility, urging the government to act promptly to enhance the standard of living.
He emphasized the importance of excellent citizenship and encouraged members of the KSJI to lead lives that inspire others. Additionally, Uche urged generosity, urging individuals to contribute to the well-being of the underprivileged, including Muslims and those following non-Christian faiths.

In the spirit of the Christmas season, Professor Uche called for mutual acceptance of each other’s shortcomings and religious differences. He emphasized the need for Nigerians to demonstrate love and understanding, fostering unity and harmony during these challenging times. The message serves as a call to both the government and citizens to work together in navigating and overcoming the economic difficulties facing the nation.
