Subsidy Removal Boosts State Finances, Says Uzodimma

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has praised the federal government’s removal of the petrol subsidy, highlighting its benefits for state governments. During a project inspection marking the first anniversary of his second term, Uzodimma noted that the increased revenue allocations resulting from the subsidy removal are aiding states in driving developmental projects.

Uzodimma emphasized that with more resources at their disposal, state governments must demonstrate their capacity to improve infrastructure and public services. He called the policy a “blessing,” citing its positive impact on socio-economic growth and infrastructure development.

Similarly, Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (North West Zone), defended the subsidy removal and naira floating policies. He stated that funds saved are being redirected into critical sectors like infrastructure, agriculture, and health, while ongoing refinery repairs signify progress under President Tinubu’s administration.
