Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, has strongly criticized Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, for distributing food in northern Nigeria. He called it a humiliation and an insult to the people of the region.
Speaking in Hausa, Lamido questioned why the North, known for its bravery and strong leaders, is now being reduced to receiving cooked rice. He said the gesture was not real governance but a political move to gain favour. He reminded people that the North once had great leaders like Sir Ahmadu Bello and Tafawa Balewa, and they should not allow themselves to be belittled.
Seyi Tinubu had shared food during Ramadan, including Danwake, a popular northern dish, with pictures of himself and his father on the packaging. However, the move sparked anger among many northern residents, who saw it as an attempt to win political support rather than truly help the struggling people.
