Super Falcons’ coach, Onome Ebi, expressed gratitude towards her initial coach, Mr. Paul Okwudili Nnakwe, also known as Palepa, for his instrumental role in nurturing and shaping her into the accomplished footballer she has become today.
At the age of 40, the Nigerian footballer took the opportunity to invite her grassroots coach to her home and show her appreciation for the invaluable guidance he provided during her formative years.
Ebi introduced her first mentor to the public, acknowledging that her growth and skills on the field are largely attributed to his influence. She recounted the early days when he taught her the game of soccer, a teaching approach that some criticized, yet he remained highly regarded.
Ebi also revealed that Mr. Nnakwe has taken on a fatherly role in her life since her biological father’s passing. With heartfelt emotions, she expressed her gratitude for his guidance, teachings, and support during her journey from a budding footballer to her current status.
