Festus Akande, the Public Relations Officer of the Supreme Court, has provided assurance that the fire incident that occurred on Monday morning at the Supreme Court complex in Abuja will not impact the ongoing presidential election petition.
During an interview on Arise TV, Akande emphasized that the fire incident would not have any bearing on the proceedings in the court.
The earlier report by Findwhosabi had indicated that a section of the Supreme Court complex, located at the Three-Arm-Zone in Abuja, had been affected by a fire on
Monday morning.
Akande clarified, saying, “As a matter of fact, there’s no single connection, and it won’t affect anything in the court.”
He elaborated that the incident had taken place in a chamber equipped with computer equipment and a functional library typically used by justices who occupy such chambers. The damage primarily involved the books and computer equipment in that chamber, and these items are replaceable.
Furthermore, Akande emphasized that the fire was a result of an electrical fault, which is an unfortunate occurrence that can happen in any location. He reassured the public that such incidents are not uncommon and would not hinder the court’s operations.
