Supreme Court Overturns Nwaoboshi’s Money Laundering Conviction

In a significant ruling, the Supreme Court has overturned the conviction of Peter Nwaoboshi, a former senator representing Delta North. The decision, delivered on Friday, saw four out of five justices of the apex court unanimously agree that the senator was subjected to unjust and malicious prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Back in 2018, Nwaoboshi and his two companies, Golden Touch Construction Project Ltd and Suiming Electrical Ltd, were initially arraigned before Judge Mohammed Idris, who was subsequently elevated to the court of appeal. They were later re-arraigned before Chukwujekwu Aneke on October 5, 2018.
