Alhaji Baboga has been paraded by the Ekiti State Police Command in connection with his purported role in the Monday, January 29, 2024, killings of the two traditional rulers in the Ikole axis of Ekiti.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti, Dare Ogundare, the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Ekiti, stated that the state’s security agencies working together was necessary to capture the suspect in the forest located between Ayedun and Ayebode.
He claimed that the suspect had admitted to the crime and that his accomplices were being sought out.
The AIG notified journalists that further suspects had been apprehended in Oke Osun, at Ikere Ekiti, Igbo Okah, and Iju-Ikere boundary forest, while maintaining that no arrests had been made during the rescue operation for the kidnapped schoolchildren and their teachers.
Regarding whether a ransom was paid to secure the release of the Emure abductees, the head of police remarked that the Nigeria Police would never support the payment of a ransom and praised the governor of Ekiti State and the Inspector General of Police for their intervention in securing the prompt release of the students and teachers.
In response to inquiries from reporters, Baboga, the suspect in the assassination of the Ikole traditional rulers, acknowledged his role in the crime.
