A fuel-laden tanker caught fire on Sunday evening at the A.A Rano filling station in Hannun Riga, Kontagora, Niger State. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. while petrol was being offloaded from the tanker.
Eyewitnesses reported that the fire broke out suddenly, raising fears that it could spread due to other fuel storage tanks at the station. Firefighters were seen battling the flames as people in the area fled for safety.
No casualties have been reported so far, but the situation remained tense. Efforts to reach emergency officials for comments were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
