Mallam Nura Suleiman, a 43-year-old Islamic teacher, has been detained by the Niger State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for allegedly abusing a three-year-old child, Isah Muaazu, in Suleja, Suleja Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement signed by Public Relations Officer SC Nasir D. Abdullahi in Minna, the suspect was detained by command personnel while conducting normal surveillance based on solid intelligence.
According to the announcement, “The teacher was caught on Friday, January 19, 2024 in Tsangaya Makaranta Mallam Umar, located behind the Niger Motel in Suleja, Niger State, and the victims were also rescued.
“The molested child, Isah Mu’azu, from Kawo, Kaduna State, was rushed to the General Hospital Suleja, for urgent medical attention following the degree of injuries observed on his body and was admitted based on the magnitude of the injuries sustained.”
Four other rescued children under the teacher’s care were found to have scars on their backs, indicating that the suspect had molested them.
Khalipha Abdullahi, Salihu Suleiman, Mohammed Mu’azu, and Ismaila Abdullahi are four youngsters from Kawo, Kaduna State.
The suspect and victims were turned over to the Niger State Child Rights Agency for further investigation and possible prosecution.
