A teacher in Ogun State who tried to stop one of a group of ten senior secondary school students from cheating on an exam was reportedly waylaid and assaulted by the group.
The incident took place in Isanbi Comprehensive High School, Ilisan-Remo, Ikenne LGA.
The teacher, While supervising an SS1 exam, discovered Ashimi Adebanjo, 18, cheating and seized his paper.
Following this, the students ganged up after school hours, chased the teacher down, and assaulted him at the school gate, according to eyewitness accounts to our correspondent.
While the others attacked him with their fists, one of the students, Kazeem Adelaja, is accused of hitting Shonuga on the head with a stick.
The 10 individuals had been taken into custody, according to Omotola Odutola, a police spokesman for the state who confirmed the occurrence.
The state’s Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) Chairman, Felix Agbesanwa, also confirmed the occurrence, stating, “The incidence is true and I have been briefed. We believe that any student who raises his hand in violation of a teacher should be subject to the full force of the law. No turning back from that. No student may raise their hand in protest at a teacher, whether they are Ogun Teach teachers or regular classroom teachers.
